Acceptable File Formats

We can accept your PC files in the following preferred formats.  Call for MAC compatibility.
Please note that usually a newer version can open an older version, i.e. version 6 will open version 5
:

Adobe
InDesign CS, Pagemaker 7.0, Illustrator CS, Photoshop CS,  Acrobat PDF

Microsoft Office 2000
    Word, Excel, Access, Powerpoint
Publisher 98, Publisher 2000, Publisher XP or Publisher 2002

Corel

Draw 8.0

Some of the "Free" MS Office alternatives:
    Open Office, 602Text, 602Tab

*Important note On Microsoft XP and 2002 files: If you have newer versions of MS Office such as Word XP or Publisher XP or 2003  you may need to save your file in a previous format as "2000", sometimes we find problems with file compatibility between systems even when using the same programs.  Simply open your document, click on File, select Save As, enter a new "File Name", click the dropdown arrow on the "Save As Type" field and select the 2000 option for your program.  When you are entering your filename you can also select a directory to save your file to.  You may want to consider something easy to find later such as: "Temp" or "My Documents".

Graphic Files

We can accept almost all graphic files. However, we prefer that you send your images in a PSD, TIFF or JPG format, preferably as CMYK.  These formats are consistent across almost all platforms and will generally provide us with the results that you want.  We suggest the following:

If you have Photoshop use PSD, this gives you the best rendering when used with other Adobe products, which we probably will use.

For files that have a lot of subtle color gradients, grayscales, complex images and may not require enlargement save these in a non-compressed TIFF format.

Designs that have sharp lines and bold colors and may need to be "scaled", made larger or smaller, be saved in a JPG format.

If you are a graphic designer or have the capabilities we can also accept any Photoshop and Illustrator format such as, .eps, .ai, etc.  Call us for specifics on these formats if you have any questions.

Fonts

Because it came on  your system don't assume everyone has the same thing!  Different manufacturers, suppliers, etc. will pre-load your system with a number of fonts.  A number of them are universal such as Arial and Times Roman.  As you collect additional software and programs they may add a few fonts to your font directory when installed.  This does not mean that we will have that font here.  Although we have thousands of fonts we get a couple of files a week that have some obscure font that is impossible to identify and may not be readily available.

We have a font library of over 7000 fonts and web access to thousands more.  However, if you have a number of fonts that you have collected over time and are using one or more that are unique please include it with your uploaded file.  We can usually find it somewhere but different font publishers may have different scaling or characteristics for a similarly named font.

If you are sending us a file such as an MS-Word or MS-Publisher document you can embed the fonts into the file making sure that what we get matches you have on your computer.

For MS-Word, simply do the following:
Open your document and select from the top bar:

1) Tools > Options > Save
2) Then check the "Embed True Type Fonts" box.
3) Save and send your document.

For MS-Publisher, simply do the following:
Open your document and select from the top bar:

1) Tools > Commercial Printing Tools >Fonts
2) Then check the "Embed True Type Fonts When Saving Publication" box.
3) Save and send your document.

Other programs have similar methods to do the same thing, look around and you should see something that does this.

If we do not have the font on file and you cannot provide it we can probably find it somewhere.  However, some fonts are proprietary and may cost on upwards of $30 on the low end to $110+ on the high end  Others, while free, may take us some time to locate.  A search fee may run anywhere from $5 to $30 depending on how long it takes to locate, download and install the font.

Just use WinZip to archive your fonts with your files for a single upload.  Font files are usually located in your C:\Windows\Fonts directory.  Some systems may have them located elsewhere.  Do a Find file and look for "*.ttf" files to locate the appropriate directory.  For Windows XP the best way to get a font available to send is to copy your font to your desktop then attach it to this upload form.

Finding Your File

If you are unsure as to where your file is we suggest that you use the Find File utility (See Note) or when you are ready to upload the Browse button will help you find and select the file as well as place the file location into the File field of the upload form.

Note: The standard Find File is located by clicking the Start button your lower left screen.   Select Find and click on Files or Folders.  Enter your file name (i.e. myfile) or a part of it with an asterisk (i.e. myf*) and click on the Find button.  This will help you locate the specific directory that your file is in.

Tips For Faster Uploading

Some files are unbelievably large especially those that are created by Microsoft products such as Publisher.  There really is no reason for many files to be as big as they are except for the fact that the program creates a lot of redundant and worthless information and carries it along.  (We believe that it is nothing more than an evil ploy to slow your system down thus forcing you to upgrade to bigger, faster equipment whenever you update your software to the next level.)  To make it easier and faster for you upload your file we suggest a compression utility such as WinZip.  These handy tools are shareware and available for you to try.  If you like it and continue to use it they ask for a modest fee for registration. You can get a copy of either of these by clicking one name or the other below.

If you are sending multiple files, separate graphics or including unique fonts you will need to use one of these utilities to combine the group of files into a single uploadable file.  Start your ZIP file and then go about your system collecting all of the necessary files to do your job and place them into the file.  When complete simply send that file to us and we will decompress the file and extract the files to do your job.

Upload File Form

Please fill out all indicated fields so that we can contact you in the event we have a problem with the file.  This form sends an email to us that lets us know that you have sent a file via our upload page.  Since there are a number of spam generators that access and load information to forms such as this our server may block passage of forms that do not have valid information in the name and email address fields.

Please note the section above on fonts. Either send us the fonts you are using as separate files or, if your program allows, embed the fonts as described.

Note: This uploader only accepts one file at a time.  If you have a large number of files to send package them with a utility such as WinZip to save time.
